GLoW3 is connected by three integral strands of enquiry into Web 3.0 digital and screen-based media: Conceptualisation, Commercialisation and Creativity.
At its core, GLoW3 is connected by three integral strands of enquiry into Web3.0 digital and screen-based media: Conceptualisation, Commercialisation and Creativity
Conceptualisation: Navigating Web 3.0 Spaces
Through conceptual enquiry, we hope to not only redefine our understanding of the metaverse and world-building but inform new research and discourse as we challenge traditional narratives. Critical questions, such as what world-building means in a global context and the role hyperbole plays in shaping new screen-based technologies, will be asked. We aim to build a platform that allows new questions and discourse to emerge. Our explorations will continue to inform us of how the contributions of women, non-binary, and trans people are shaping, leading, and influencing these narratives.
Commercialisation:
The commercial dimension of Web 3.0 is built upon and intertwined with blockchain technologies. Our enquiry delves into this dimension through the lens of specific women, non-binary, and trans-led initiatives. Through the exploration and examination of these initiatives, we will also delve into discourse around how these technologies have impacted lived experiences in different global contexts. We’ll dive into the complex implications of distributing creative output as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and explore their intersections with labor practices and environmental considerations.
Creativity: Connecting Digital and Physical Realms
Building upon the exploration of conceptual and commercial enquiries and the integration of women, non-binary, and trans peoples into Web 3.0 digital and screen-based media, our creative enquiry unfolds through the GLoW.3 Artists Programme. This ground-breaking hybrid, multi-sited exhibition in collaboration with National Gallery X and GAZELL.iO is set to launch on International Women’s Day, 2024.
Discovering GLoW3 is not just about engaging with us across our platforms but about highlighting and showcasing the contributions of women, non-binary, and trans peoples in these spaces and technologies. As the world transitions into a new age of the internet, it is important that we give space to the voices of all communities, particularly those who have often been overlooked in digital spaces, on technological innovation, and integration.
Through this discovery, we invite you to Join GloW3 in this mission, through following our Artists Programme and developments in the GloW3 space, and continuing discourse and research around the contributions of women, non-binary, and trans peoples.
